About Syllabic Pronunciation Simplified
The scroll "Three Divine Odes with Anecdotes" is written in old chinese. It also
includes many non-Chinese words written syllabically by using Chinese characters.
But pronunciation of Chinese characters varies greatly depending upon the time period,
the areas and the tribes that use Chinese characters.
Therefore it is extremely difficult for us to identify what sound was intended when those
non-Chinese words in the original sources of the scroll were written.
(Possibly most parts of this scroll are based on non-Khitan sources. They may come from
Balhae.)
But those non-Chinese words are often quite polysyllabic, just like
names of old Japnese deities that appears in the old history books.
This differs greatly with those of China or Korea.
So I assumed such pronunciation as resembling the one in old Chinese but also
having a feeling of old Japanese.
I named it "Syllabic Pronunciation Simplified", and used it here for notation.
